Down along the coast of Georgia lies some barrier islands that protect the mainland. These islands have more than just sand and coastal fauna. St. Simons Island is one of these places. St. Simons Island is home to some of the purest coastal courses around south. Sea Island is home to the RSM Classic. The RSM Classic hosted by Davis Love III is a pro's vacation from the rigor of the tour. For the players that attend, they are treated like kings. The courses (Plantation and Seaside) have some beautiful views and lawns that are manicured as if you were walking through the Royal Gardens of a monarchy.
Last week, Be Good had the privilege of walking these same fairways and greens. We played Seaside and the course is superior to almost every other course we have played. The views of the coastal marsh are visible from every green. Each fairway brings its own challenges, whether it is the need to place the ball in the correct location to have access to the green or marsh carries that make you think you are long enough but the wind tells a different story.
These hallowed grounds are worth the visit and the facilities offered at Sea Island make you feel like you deserve to be there.
